In 2005, this cigar was first released as a limited edition and received widespread acclaim in the market for its exceptional quality. In 2008, to meet the market demand for high-quality cigars, the Cuban state tobacco monopoly Habanos SA announced at the Habanos festival that this cigar would continue to be produced as a regular line and was officially named 'Magnum 50'.
